Project Value

Duration
2 Months

Sector

Whitaker and Leach were appointed by Harrogate Borough Council to de-liver the transformation of the historically acclaimed Turkish Baths, Harrogate.

Only seven Turkish Baths remain from the 19th century and none are as historically complete and in full working order as Harrogate’s Turkish Baths.

Prior to the re-opening, Whitaker and Leach installed a brand-new Canopy, formed a larger Entrance Area and refurbished the Reception and Spa Rooms.

Works included: the stripping out of existing walls to expose original tiles and decorations a newly formed mezzanine floor specifically created to hold the Hammam treatment bed, and the provision of a brand-new, bespoke canopy and eye-catching.

Whitaker and Leach produced be-spoke, hardwood furniture includ-ing: counter tops, shelves and stair-cases made specific to the Council’s requirements.

The use of brightly coloured glazed bricks, mosaic tiles and fine polished hardwoods means the interior looks new, fresh and bright and the character of the Baths has been restored.
