The Royal & Derngate Theatre

Project Value
£90,000

Duration
8 Weeks

Sector
Commercial

Whitaker and Leach were contracted to form the new Hygge Craft Bar at The Royal and Derngate Theatre, Northampton.

The Grade II listed building required general strip out works, including the removal of all existing carpets and internal partitions. The existing plywood and suspended ceiling were removed to expose the vaulted ceiling which was used as a design feature throughout the bar.

New internal steps were formed between different floor levels and new timber glazed doors to match the existing external doors. Together the timber doors and bar were designed and manufactured by Whitaker and Leach.

The existing timber floor was sanded, and resealed and new flooring was installed to the toilet and cellar areas.

All joinery works, including the bar and internal doors were manufactured in Whitaker and Leach’s workshop in Bradford and installed on site by qualified site joiners. The use of fine polished hardwoods created a smooth, clean finish.

Working to a tight programme, the successful co-ordination of multiple parties ensured the project was completed on time and within budget.
