Middleway Retail Park, Burton Upon Trent

Project Value
£200,000

Duration
4 Months

Sector
Retail

Whitaker and Leach worked in coherence with F & C Reit Asset Management to refurbish and divide a former retail unit into two brand-new themed restaurants.

First, the entire retail unit was stripped out and all existing doors, walls and floors were removed.

Extensive mechanical, electrical and drainage works were carried out for the new units to meet the specifications and needs of the restaurants. This meant cutting out the existing floor slab, to allow for drainage alterations, and then forming new concrete slab and floors once completed.

The two new units were formed by the building of an internal, dividing wall and the existing roof was restructured by installing new structural steelworks.

Externally, brickworks were constructed to build entrance ramps, new steel security bollards were fixed, and all new drainage installed.

To revamp the unit exterior, new shop fronts were constructed with large glazed windows, glazed metal doors and on-brand frontage. Where necessary the roof was repaired and replaced to achieve maximum safety and a high-quality finish.
